Pattaya School for the Blind

The annual Wai Khru, Teachers Day, takes place on the last Thursday in June at the School for the Blind, and, as well as paying respect to the teaching staff, benefactors to the school are also invited to attend.

Khun Aurora, Principal of the school, opened the morning’s activities by welcoming the guests. She also announced that the school is in the middle of celebrations to commemorate the twenty fifth anniversary of the opening of the school.

The highlight of the celebrations will be a visit in April 2013 by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, crown princess of Thailand and patron of the school.

The children had spent many hours decorating floral arrangements which were presented to the teachers by a representative of each class.

Being the School for the Blind the children performed a selection of songs for those who attended.

The names of all the attending guests were called and they received a beautiful hand made flower from the blind students.

Once the ceremony was over, the children were in for a big surprise when they went downstairs to the dining room. Waiting for each student was a special treat, burgers and fries and a large cup of cola, all donated by a local hospital. Lunch has never been better
