Redemptorist Vocational School for People with Disabilities

Tomorrow, Wednesday, the nation will celebrate the birthday of Her Majesty the Queen, but the day is also celebrated as Mother’s Day.

The vocational school will be closed for the day, so this morning the students held the ‘Wan Mair’  or Mother’s Day ceremony. Sister Pavinee is called mother by all the students, so it was only fitting that she led the ceremony by paying respect in front of a large portrait of the queen. Students then sang the Queen’s song, before one young man came forward to read an essay he had written about his own mother. As everyone listened, a few tears could be seen as the students and teachers thought of their own mother, remembered what their mother had done for them and for those whose mother’s are no longer alive, it was a time to remember those who are no longer with us.

Sister Pavinee then spoke to the students before presenting several with awards for work well done throughout the year. Many students who live nearby will visit their mother, an many families will arrive at the school so they can spend their day with child.
