At the Children’s Village the children were up early to give alms of food to the local monks from a nearby temple. But it was in the evening that most of the celebrations took place.

At eight o’clock all the children from the Village and Home joined people throughout the country by standing in front of their television screens which were showing the Bangkok ceremony live.

The Prime Minister lead a speech that was repeated by people all over the kingdom, then candles were lit and royal songs were sang for Her Majesty the Queen on her 86th birthday.

It is also Mothers Day, which meant that the children paid their respects to the ladies who take care of them, and in return they received a blessed piece of white string tied around their wrists.

It was time for bed for the younger children, but at the Home the children filled themselves with doughnuts, cola and watch a movie on the big screen.
